Powered door rules that apply in Harpenden
Harpenden is in England, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.
Fire safety duties for shutters in Harpenden
In England, fire shutters are part of the fire precautions the responsible person must keep maintained under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005: in efficient working order and in good repair. Testing at suitable intervals and keeping the results is expected good practice and supports your fire risk assessment. Enforcement in Harpenden is by the local fire and rescue authority.
Questions from businesses in Harpenden
Do you cover Harpenden?
Yes. We survey, install, repair and service industrial doors and loading bay equipment for businesses in Harpenden and the rest of Hertfordshire. Tell us the site postcode and what you need and we will arrange a visit.
What paperwork do we get after an installation in Harpenden?
User instructions, the manufacturer's Declaration of Performance and, for powered doors, the conformity documents and commissioning records. Keep them with your health and safety file.
Is the survey free for sites in Harpenden?
Surveys for new doors, replacements and loading bay installations are free. Repair and servicing visits are chargeable, with the attendance price agreed before we come out.
Do prices in Hertfordshire differ from the guide prices?
Guide prices apply to mainland UK sites. For islands and remote sites, travel and access costs are added and shown in your quote. Your fixed price depends on the door, size, access and working hours, and is confirmed in writing after the survey.
