Options that matter on site
- Dock bumpers. Bumpers that stop trailers at the right distance from the building.
- Suitable fixings. We choose anchor bolts or foundations depending on the slab and expected impacts.
- Guide-rail guards. Guards over the base of door guides and tracks, where most hits land.
- Frame buffers. Buffers cushion knocks to frame edges and wall corners around the opening.
- Wheel guides. Apron guides that centre trailers on the bay.
Examples of work we can quote for
- Installing wheel guides and corner bollards on a run of loading bays to protect the shelter frames.
- Replacing worn-through dock bumpers so reversing trailers stop short of the wall and the leveller lip.
- Placing bollards beside a fire shutter so stored goods and trucks cannot obstruct its closing line.
Loading bay safety in Scotland
Dock levellers, shelters and restraints are work equipment, so in Angus and Dundee the business running the site must keep them in efficient working order under PUWER 1998, and keep traffic routes safe under the Workplace Regulations 1992. Dock levellers are built to BS EN 1398; powered loading bay doors are covered by the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 and BS EN 12453.
Access, phasing and timing
For busy sites in Scotland the work can be split across visits — preparation and framing first, door installation and commissioning second — so the opening is only out of action for the shortest time.

Your questions about bollards and door protection
Will fitting bollards damage the floor at our Angus and Dundee site?
We check slab thickness and look for buried services before drilling. Polymer bollards and proper foundations reduce the risk of slab cracking on heavy impacts, and we recommend the right fixing for your floor.
How long does it take to fit door protection in Angus and Dundee?
Usually a few hours per door for base-plated bollards and guide guards. Bollards set in foundations take longer because of coring or excavation, and are often fitted out of hours to avoid disrupting traffic.
How much do bollards cost to install in Angus and Dundee?
Our guide price is £125 to £445 ex VAT per installed bollard, depending on size, material and fixing. Guide-rail guards and buffers are £345 to £1,495 per door. We confirm a fixed price in writing after a free survey in Angus and Dundee.
