Options that matter on site
- High visibility. Bright finishes make protection easy for drivers to see and avoid.
- Polymer bollards. Bollards that flex on impact, sparing the floor, the vehicle and themselves.
- Wheel guides. Steel guides steer trailers straight into the middle of each bay.
- Frame buffers. Rubber or polymer buffers on corners and frames at vehicle height.
- Guide-rail guards. Guards over the base of door guides and tracks, where most hits land.
Typical scopes of work
- Adding steel guide-rail guards to a row of sectional loading doors at a distribution centre.
- Setting concrete-filled steel bollards in excavated foundations to protect a yard roller shutter from HGV impact.
- Fitting rubber corner buffers to a door frame where pallet trucks clip the wall on a tight turn.
Loading bay safety in England
Dock levellers, shelters and restraints are work equipment, so in Manchester the business running the site must keep them in efficient working order under PUWER 1998, and keep traffic routes safe under the Workplace Regulations 1992. Dock levellers are built to BS EN 1398; powered loading bay doors are covered by the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 and BS EN 12453.
Keeping your site running during the work
Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Frequently asked questions
Which bollards suit our Manchester warehouse?
Steel bollards suit most yards and external doors; polymer bollards suit busy internal routes where they will be hit often. The slab and vehicle weights decide the fixing. We recommend after seeing where your doors are being struck.
Can you protect our existing doors in Manchester?
Yes. Guards, buffers and bollards are fitted around existing doors and frames. If a guide or frame is already bent, we recommend repairing it first so the door runs properly behind its new protection.
Will fitting bollards damage the floor at our Manchester site?
We check slab thickness and look for buried services before drilling. Polymer bollards and proper foundations reduce the risk of slab cracking on heavy impacts, and we recommend the right fixing for your floor.
