Options that matter on site
- Thick insulation. Foam-filled leaves sized to the room temperature, from chillers to freezers.
- Heated frames. Freezer frames and thresholds are kept just warm enough that ice cannot form on the seals.
- Electric sliding. Powered sliding doors that open on demand and close automatically, with full safety devices.
- Impact protection. Protection around the opening helps stop forklifts damaging expensive insulated leaves.
- Tight seals. Compressible gaskets pressed against the frame as the door closes.
Jobs we can carry out
- Replacing an iced-up sliding freezer door with a new insulated door, heated frame and heated threshold.
- Protecting new cold store door frames with steel buffers and bollards on a busy forklift route.
- Fitting freezer-grade PVC strip curtains behind cold store doors that stand open during loading.
Powered door rules that apply in Kirkcaldy
Kirkcaldy is in Scotland, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.

Your questions about cold store and freezer doors
Do you supply cold store doors for food businesses in Fife?
Yes. We supply and fit cold store doors with hygienic finishes for food producers, processors, distributors and commercial kitchens across Fife, and we talk through your hygiene, cleaning and audit requirements at the survey before recommending a finish.
Why is our cold room door in Kirkcaldy hard to open after it closes?
Usually negative pressure: air inside cools and contracts once the door seals. A correctly sized pressure relief valve, heated on freezers, solves this. We check for one on survey and can fit it with a new door.
