What to specify
- Thick insulation. Insulation thickness is chosen for your operating temperature, with heavier leaves for freezers.
- Electric sliding. Motorised sliding doors with pull cords, radar or loops and safety edges.
- Impact protection. Protection around the opening helps stop forklifts damaging expensive insulated leaves.
- Inside release. An emergency release on the inside face so nobody can be shut in.
- Hygienic finishes. Plastisol-coated steel, stainless steel or GRP for food and pharmaceutical use.
Examples of work we can quote for
- Installing a high-speed freezer door in front of an existing sliding cold store door on a busy picking route.
- Motorising a heavy manual cold store door with pull-cord activation, a safety edge on the closing leaf and photocells.
- Fitting a hinged chiller door with a stainless steel finish to a walk-in cold room in a commercial kitchen.
Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Strabane?
In Northern Ireland, the business in control of the premises must keep doors and gates safe under the Workplace Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1993 and maintain work equipment under PUWER (Northern Ireland) 1999, with HSENI as the regulator. The installer who supplies or motorises a door hands over the conformity documents and user instructions; CE marking remains the relevant mark for machinery here.
Access, phasing and timing
If your premises are leased, check whether the landlord needs to approve the work. We can provide drawings and product data for the landlord or managing agent before the order is placed.

Questions from businesses in Strabane
Can you replace a freezer door at our Strabane site without losing stock?
We plan the change with you and your refrigeration engineer. Many doors can be swapped in a day, sometimes with stock moved or the plant set back temporarily, so the room returns to temperature quickly.
Why is our cold room door in Strabane hard to open after it closes?
Usually negative pressure: air inside cools and contracts once the door seals. A correctly sized pressure relief valve, heated on freezers, solves this. We check for one on survey and can fit it with a new door.
Can our cold store door in Strabane be made electric?
Often, yes, if the leaf and track are sound, or with a new electric sliding door. Powered cold store doors need safety edges and photocells and a drive suited to the temperature.
