Dock levellers in Nairn

Quick answer

New-build loading docks in Nairn need levellers planned early. We provide pit details for the groundworks contractor, then fit and commission the levellers and interlock them with the dock doors once those are in.

Town: Nairn
Postcode district: IV12
Area: Highlands and Islands
Survey: By arrangement

What to specify

Door interlocks. Leveller works only with the door open; the door cannot close on it.
Velocity fuse. If pressure is lost suddenly, the platform locks instead of dropping.
Sized to your fleet. Platform length and capacity chosen for your vehicles and forklifts.
Toe guards. Guards along each side keep feet out from under the moving platform.
Commissioning. Every unit is tested through its full cycle before handover, with documentation.

Jobs we can carry out

Fitting telescopic-lip levellers for a fleet whose trailers do not always park tight against the dock buffers.
Replacing a mechanical leveller with a hydraulic unit that has single-button automatic operation and a velocity fuse.
Replacing worn swing-lip dock levellers in their existing pits, with pit edge repairs and new dock bumpers.

Who is responsible for loading bay equipment at a site in Nairn?

The employer or occupier is. PUWER 1998 requires work equipment to be maintained and inspected, and the Workplace Regulations 1992 cover vehicle and pedestrian routes around the dock. In practice that means planned servicing of levellers and doors, daily pre-use checks and a clear procedure to stop trailers moving during loading.

Keeping your site running during the work

If your premises are leased, check whether the landlord needs to approve the work. We can provide drawings and product data for the landlord or managing agent before the order is placed.
