What we fit in Gwynedd
- Foam seals. Foam pads that the trailer squeezes into, ideal where every vehicle is much the same.
- Retractable frames. If a trailer reverses too far, the frame gives way and springs back instead of bending.
- Weather protection. Keeps wind, rain and cold out of the dock during loading.
- Temperature control. Helps hold heat or cold inside the building with dock doors open.
- Replacement curtains. Worn or torn curtains renewed on the existing frame.
What this work can involve
- Fitting foam dock seals at a bay used only by a dedicated fleet of identical trailers.
- Adding rain gutters and guide lights to dock shelters so water stays out of trailers during loading.
- Replacing torn side and top curtains on existing retractable shelter frames instead of buying new shelters.
Who is responsible for loading bay equipment at a site in Gwynedd?
The employer or occupier is. PUWER 1998 requires work equipment to be maintained and inspected, and the Workplace Regulations 1992 cover vehicle and pedestrian routes around the dock. In practice that means planned servicing of levellers and doors, daily pre-use checks and a clear procedure to stop trailers moving during loading.
How the work is organised
Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Frequently asked questions
Which dock shelter suits our Gwynedd warehouse?
Retractable shelters suit most mixed fleets. Inflatable shelters give a tighter seal for chilled, frozen or sensitive goods. Foam seals suit uniform fleets. We recommend one after recording your vehicles and dock on survey.
Do you fit dock shelters for cold stores around Wales?
Yes. We fit inflatable and retractable shelters at cold stores and chilled sites across Wales, often alongside insulated doors and levellers, to help hold temperature and limit condensation at the dock while trailers are worked.
How long does dock shelter installation take in Gwynedd?
Typically half a day to a day per shelter, depending on size and fixings. We schedule work bay by bay so loading can continue at the others while each shelter is fitted.
