In short
Wind and rain blowing through the loading bay at your County Tyrone site every time a trailer backs on? A retractable or inflatable dock shelter seals the opening around the vehicle and keeps the weather outside where it belongs.

What to specify
- Inflatable seals. Once the vehicle is in place, inflated bags press against its sides and roof.
- Retractable frames. Spring-loaded scissor arms fold back on impact and return afterwards.
- Sized to your fleet. Curtain sizes matched to vehicle widths, heights and dock height.
- Foam seals. Compressible pads for a tight seal where vehicles are a uniform size.
- Weather protection. Keeps wind, rain and cold out of the dock during loading.
Jobs we can carry out
- Replacing worn dock bumpers before fitting new shelters so trailers stop at the correct distance from the wall.
- Fitting retractable dock shelters across a run of bays that serve a mixed fleet of vans and trailers.
- Specifying deeper top curtains for bays that receive double-deck trailers alongside standard trailers.
Loading bay safety in Northern Ireland
In Northern Ireland, PUWER (Northern Ireland) 1999 requires dock levellers, shelters and powered doors to be maintained, and the Workplace Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1993 cover traffic routes around the dock. HSENI is the regulator. Dock levellers are built to BS EN 1398.
Access, phasing and timing
Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Dock shelters and seals in County Tyrone: your questions
Which dock shelter suits our County Tyrone warehouse?
Retractable shelters suit most mixed fleets. Inflatable shelters give a tighter seal for chilled, frozen or sensitive goods. Foam seals suit uniform fleets. We recommend one after recording your vehicles and dock on survey.
Can you replace the curtains on our dock shelters in County Tyrone?
Yes. Replacement curtains are made to fit the existing frame on most retractable shelters, which is much cheaper than a new shelter. We measure and record the frame on the first visit.
Do you fit dock shelters for cold stores around Northern Ireland?
Yes. We fit inflatable and retractable shelters at cold stores and chilled sites across Northern Ireland, often alongside insulated doors and levellers, to help hold temperature and limit condensation at the dock while trailers are worked.
