Fire safety duties for shutters in Northern Ireland

In Northern Ireland the person with fire safety duties (often called the appropriate person) has the duty under the Fire and Rescue Services (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 and the Fire Safety Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010 to keep fire safety measures, including fire shutters, maintained and in efficient working order. Keeping test records is expected good practice. Enforcement in Irvinestown is by the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service.

Access, phasing and timing

Before work starts we send a method statement and risk assessment, confirm who on site will be our contact and agree where materials and access equipment will go. On shared industrial estates that can mean booking yard space with the landlord.
