What to specify
- Daily-use models. Motorised fire shutters that also work as everyday doors.
- Records. You receive records of the installation, commissioning and first drop test for your files.
- Certified install. Fitted strictly to the manufacturer's specification for fixings, wall type and fire-stopping.
- Alarm interface. We agree the cause-and-effect with your alarm contractor and prove the release at commissioning.
- Fail-safe closing. If the alarm sounds or the power goes, the shutter drops at a governed speed and closes the opening.
Examples of work we can quote for
- Installing a motorised fire shutter that also serves as the daily goods door between two warehouse compartments.
- Replacing an obsolete kitchen servery fire shutter with a new shutter released by the fire alarm panel.
- Fire-stopping the head and jambs of a replacement shutter exactly to the manufacturer's installation details.
Fire safety duties for shutters in Bushey
In England, fire shutters are part of the fire precautions the responsible person must keep maintained under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005: in efficient working order and in good repair. Testing at suitable intervals and keeping the results is expected good practice and supports your fire risk assessment. Enforcement in Bushey is by the local fire and rescue authority.
Access, phasing and timing
For busy sites in Hertfordshire the work can be split across visits — preparation and framing first, door installation and commissioning second — so the opening is only out of action for the shortest time.

Frequently asked questions
Who maintains a fire shutter at our Bushey premises?
The person in control of the premises: the responsible person in England and Wales, the dutyholder in Scotland, or in Northern Ireland the person with fire safety duties. Check your lease to see whether landlord or tenant arranges servicing.
Can a fire shutter in Bushey be fitted to any wall?
No. It must be fitted to a wall of the type covered by the manufacturer's test evidence, with fire-stopping as detailed. If your wall differs, we explain what building work is needed before the shutter is ordered.
How long does fire shutter installation take at a Bushey site?
A single shutter is typically fitted in one to two days, with commissioning and alarm testing on top. Lead times for fire-rated products are confirmed with the quote, and work is planned around your operations.
