What we fit in Norwich
- Fail-safe closing. If the alarm sounds or the power goes, the shutter drops at a governed speed and closes the opening.
- Warning devices. Sounders and beacons to warn people before and during descent.
- Alarm interface. We agree the cause-and-effect with your alarm contractor and prove the release at commissioning.
- Records. You receive records of the installation, commissioning and first drop test for your files.
- Battery back-up. Batteries keep the closing sequence under control even if mains power is lost.
Examples of work we can quote for
- Fitting battery back-up, a beacon and a sounder to a new fire shutter on a service corridor.
- Installing a motorised fire shutter that also serves as the daily goods door between two warehouse compartments.
- Building up a blockwork wall to the tested construction before fitting a new compartment fire shutter.
Fire safety duties for shutters in Norwich
In England, fire shutters are part of the fire precautions the responsible person must keep maintained under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005: in efficient working order and in good repair. Testing at suitable intervals and keeping the results is expected good practice and supports your fire risk assessment. Enforcement in Norwich is by the local fire and rescue authority.
Planning the work around your site
If your premises are leased, check whether the landlord needs to approve the work. We can provide drawings and product data for the landlord or managing agent before the order is placed.
