What to specify
- Vertical-lift fabric. Tall openings with little side space can use a fabric door that lifts and folds into a compact stack.
- Safety systems. Large doors move a lot of mass, so warning and detection devices are built in from the start.
- Wind resistance. Closed doors are designed to resist the wind pressure your site can see without jamming.
- Drives and controls. Electric drives per leaf or central, with manual or emergency operation.
- Designed per opening. Each door engineered around the opening size, structure and site wind exposure.
Typical scopes of work
- Refurbishing manual large-span sliding doors with new bottom wheels, top guides and an electric drive unit on each leaf.
- Fitting a vertical-lift fabric door to a tall vehicle maintenance shed where adjoining buildings take up the side space.
- Installing heavy-duty sectional doors with wind-resistant panels across the frontage of a bus or coach garage.
Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Rayleigh?
In England, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.
How the work is organised
Sites in and around Rayleigh vary from tight trade counters to large distribution yards. The survey records access for our vehicle and platform, overhead obstructions and floor condition so the installation day runs without surprises.

Your questions about hangar and large-span doors
Can you refurbish our existing hangar doors in Rayleigh?
Often, yes. If the leaves are sound, we renew wheels, guides, drives, cladding and safety devices. Where distortion or corrosion is severe, we explain why replacement may be better value.
Which hangar door type would suit our building in Rayleigh?
It depends on headroom, side space, structure and how often the door moves. Sliding doors need side space, vertical-lift fabric doors need headroom, and large sectional doors suit big but not extreme openings. We recommend after survey.
Do you service large doors across Essex?
Yes. We service and repair hangar and large-span doors across Essex, including running gear, drives, controls and safety devices. Service and repair visits are chargeable and quoted before work starts.
