What we fit in Plymouth
- Inverter drives. Soft start and stop protect the curtain and drive at high cycle rates.
- Smart activation. The door opens only for the traffic you choose, from forklifts on loops to pedestrians on buttons.
- Vision panels. See-through panels let drivers and pedestrians spot each other before the door opens.
- Self-repairing curtains. Many fabric doors re-feed into the guides after an impact on the next cycle.
- Spiral doors. Aluminium slats that never touch as they run, giving speed, insulation and security in one door.
Jobs we can carry out
- Cutting induction loops on both sides of a high-speed door so forklifts trigger it but pedestrians do not.
- Replacing a worn fabric curtain, bottom bar and drive belt on a door logging thousands of cycles a week.
- Interlocking two high-speed doors as an airlock between a clean production area and the general warehouse.
Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Plymouth?
In England, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.
Access, phasing and timing
Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

High-speed doors in Plymouth: your questions
Do you repair high-speed doors across Devon?
Yes. We repair fabric and spiral high-speed doors across Devon, including curtains, bottom bars, drives, inverters and safety devices, subject to parts availability. Repair visits are chargeable and quoted up front.
How long does it take to install a high-speed door in Plymouth?
A typical fabric door is fitted and commissioned in a day once it arrives. Spiral doors, interlocks and floor loops add time. The manufacturer's lead time is confirmed with your quote, and we fit around your operations.
What safety features will a high-speed door at our Plymouth premises have?
Typically a full-height light curtain or photocells, limited closing forces, and on many fabric models a soft or breakaway bottom edge. The exact package comes from the risk assessment for your traffic and is tested before handover.
