Options that matter on site

Light curtains. Sensors along the side frames watch the whole opening and keep the door open while it is occupied.
Self-repairing curtains. Many fabric doors re-feed into the guides after an impact on the next cycle.
Breakaway bottom bars. If a truck catches the door, the bottom bar breaks away rather than bending the frame.
Spiral doors. Aluminium slats that never touch as they run, giving speed, insulation and security in one door.
Inverter drives. A frequency inverter accelerates and brakes the curtain smoothly, cutting wear on every cycle.

Typical scopes of work

Installing an insulated spiral door as the main external opening on a temperature-controlled distribution unit.
Interlocking two high-speed doors as an airlock between a clean production area and the general warehouse.
Fitting a self-repairing fabric door between production and dispatch where a conventional shutter stands open all shift.

Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Welshpool?

In Wales, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.

How the work is organised

Downtime matters on a working site, so the programme is set around your shifts. For a single door the opening is usually needed for a day; multi-door jobs are done one bay at a time so deliveries keep moving.

Your questions about high-speed doors

Do you repair high-speed doors across Powys?

Yes. We repair fabric and spiral high-speed doors across Powys, including curtains, bottom bars, drives, inverters and safety devices, subject to parts availability. Repair visits are chargeable and quoted up front.

Which type of high-speed door suits our Welshpool site?

Fabric doors suit most internal openings and many sheltered external ones. Spiral doors suit exposed external openings and sites that need insulation and security from the same door. We recommend a type after looking at traffic, exposure and temperature on the survey.

What safety features will a high-speed door at our Welshpool premises have?

Typically a full-height light curtain or photocells, limited closing forces, and on many fabric models a soft or breakaway bottom edge. The exact package comes from the risk assessment for your traffic and is tested before handover.
