Quick answer
For openings in Kelso that cycle hundreds of times a day, we fit high-speed doors with inverter drives, breakaway bottom bars and controls tuned to the traffic that uses them.

What to specify
- Self-repairing curtains. After a knock, many curtains reset themselves automatically instead of waiting for an engineer.
- Light curtains. Sensors along the side frames watch the whole opening and keep the door open while it is occupied.
- Smart activation. The door opens only for the traffic you choose, from forklifts on loops to pedestrians on buttons.
- Breakaway bottom bars. If a truck catches the door, the bottom bar breaks away rather than bending the frame.
- Vision panels. Clear vision strips or windows so drivers can see through the closed door.
Typical scopes of work
- Fitting a wind-resistant high-speed fabric door to a sheltered external yard opening, with traffic lights for drivers.
- Installing an insulated spiral door as the main external opening on a temperature-controlled distribution unit.
- Fitting a self-repairing fabric door between production and dispatch where a conventional shutter stands open all shift.
Safety law for industrial doors in Scotland
Industrial doors in Kelso are covered by the same rules as the rest of Great Britain. On handover you should receive user instructions and, for a powered door, the conformity paperwork, because the installer is treated as the manufacturer when they assemble or motorise it. Afterwards, keeping the door in efficient working order is the occupier's job under the Workplace Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998, which in practice means regular servicing and a written log.
How the work is organised
If your premises are leased, check whether the landlord needs to approve the work. We can provide drawings and product data for the landlord or managing agent before the order is placed.
Budgeting for high-speed doors in Kelso
| Item | Guide price (ex VAT) |
|---|---|
| High-speed fabric door | £7,495 – £15,995 |

Guide prices for supply and installation unless stated, excluding VAT, which is added at the current rate where it applies. Your fixed price is confirmed in writing after a survey, before any work starts.
Frequently asked questions
Can you fit a high-speed door alongside our existing door in Kelso?
Often, yes. A high-speed door can sit inside or outside an existing shutter or sectional door, with the conventional door closed at night. We check the space and fixings on survey.
Do high-speed doors in Kelso need more servicing than standard doors?
Usually, yes, because they cycle so often. We base the service interval on the cycle counter and the manufacturer's guidance rather than a fixed annual visit, and can set up a planned maintenance schedule.
What safety features will a high-speed door at our Kelso premises have?
Typically a full-height light curtain or photocells, limited closing forces, and on many fabric models a soft or breakaway bottom edge. The exact package comes from the risk assessment for your traffic and is tested before handover.
