What we fit in Dumfries and Galloway

Controls. From a simple button station to loops and radar, the controls match how often the door opens.
Colour choice. Powder-coated RAL finishes to match cladding and building trims.
Electric drive. Motor inside the barrel or on its end, with a chain or handle so the door still opens without power.
Weather seals. Seals along the guides, head and bottom rail stop wind-driven rain and cold air getting in.
Wind locks. On exposed elevations, wind locks hook the laths into the guides so gusts cannot push the curtain out.

What this work can involve

Adding wind locks and a heavier geared motor to a wide insulated roller door on an exposed elevation.
Fitting an insulated roller door to a trade counter unit where sprinkler mains leave no room for sectional door tracks.
Converting a hand-chained insulated roller door to electric operation with a safety edge and photocells.

Powered door rules that apply in Dumfries and Galloway

Dumfries and Galloway is in Scotland, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.

Access, phasing and timing

Most installations in Dumfries and Galloway can be phased so part of the site keeps working. We agree access routes, exclusion zones and any temporary security with you before the team arrives, and can work early mornings, evenings or weekends where the business needs it.

Questions from businesses in Dumfries and Galloway

Does a powered insulated roller door in Dumfries and Galloway need safety devices?

If the door closes automatically or can trap someone, yes. The risk assessment decides what is needed, typically a safety edge, photocells and closing forces tested to BS EN 12453, plus anti-fall protection on heavier curtains.

How much does an insulated roller shutter door cost in Dumfries and Galloway?

Our guide price for an electric insulated roller door up to about 4 × 4 m is £3,195 to £7,495 ex VAT, supplied and fitted. We survey your Dumfries and Galloway opening free of charge and then put a fixed price in writing.

Can you replace our old roller shutter in Dumfries and Galloway with an insulated one?

Yes. We recommend a complete new door rather than a new curtain on old parts, and include strip-out and disposal in the quote so the old shutter goes when the new one is fitted.
