Options for insulated roller shutter doors in Oldham

Controls. Buttons, key switches, remotes, induction loops or radar to suit your traffic.
Foam-filled laths. Each lath has two metal skins with insulating foam between them, so the curtain holds heat far better.
Wind locks. On exposed elevations, wind locks hook the laths into the guides so gusts cannot push the curtain out.
Colour choice. Choose a colour to suit your building, with a matching hood over the coil if wanted.
Electric drive. Motor inside the barrel or on its end, with a chain or handle so the door still opens without power.

Jobs we can carry out

Adding wind locks and a heavier geared motor to a wide insulated roller door on an exposed elevation.
Fitting a compact insulated service door to a plant room to reduce the noise reaching neighbouring offices.
Installing an insulated roller door with induction loop activation on a busy internal forklift route.

Powered door rules that apply in Oldham

Oldham is in England, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.

How the work is organised

Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Frequently asked questions

Does a powered insulated roller door in Oldham need safety devices?

If the door closes automatically or can trap someone, yes. The risk assessment decides what is needed, typically a safety edge, photocells and closing forces tested to BS EN 12453, plus anti-fall protection on heavier curtains.

Is there enough headroom for an insulated roller door at our Oldham unit?

The coil on an insulated curtain is larger than on a single-skin shutter, so we measure the space above the lintel on survey. Where headroom is very tight, the coil can sometimes be fitted outside the opening or a lower-profile option chosen.

How long does insulated roller door installation take in Oldham?

Most single doors are fitted and commissioned in a day once the made-to-measure door has arrived. The manufacturer's lead time is confirmed with your quote so you can plan around it.
