Options that matter on site

Foam-filled laths. Double-skin laths with a polyurethane core cut heat loss compared with single skin.
Compact coil. The curtain coils above the opening, leaving ceilings free for lights and sprinklers.
Controls. From a simple button station to loops and radar, the controls match how often the door opens.
Safety devices. Every powered door gets the safety functions its risk assessment calls for and is tested before handover.
Electric drive. Tubular or external geared motors with a manual override for power cuts.

Typical scopes of work

Installing an insulated roller door with induction loop activation on a busy internal forklift route.
Converting a hand-chained insulated roller door to electric operation with a safety edge and photocells.
Fitting an insulated roller door to a trade counter unit where sprinkler mains leave no room for sectional door tracks.

Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Pontypool?

In Wales, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.

Planning the work around your site

Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Insulated roller shutter doors in Pontypool: your questions

Is there enough headroom for an insulated roller door at our Pontypool unit?

The coil on an insulated curtain is larger than on a single-skin shutter, so we measure the space above the lintel on survey. Where headroom is very tight, the coil can sometimes be fitted outside the opening or a lower-profile option chosen.

Can you replace our old roller shutter in Pontypool with an insulated one?

Yes. We recommend a complete new door rather than a new curtain on old parts, and include strip-out and disposal in the quote so the old shutter goes when the new one is fitted.

How long does insulated roller door installation take in Pontypool?

Most single doors are fitted and commissioned in a day once the made-to-measure door has arrived. The manufacturer's lead time is confirmed with your quote so you can plan around it.
