Options that matter on site
- Impact protection. Trailers are stopped and centred so they do not damage the wall, shelter or door.
- Shelters and seals. A shelter or seal closes the gap around the vehicle during loading.
- Sectional doors. Insulated sectional doors with vision panels and electric operation.
- One package. Door, leveller, shelter, bumpers and lights specified together.
- Traffic lights. Inside and outside lights show when the bay is safe to use.
Typical scopes of work
- Designing and fitting a run of complete loading bays on a new-build distribution centre to the main contractor's programme.
- Refurbishing bays one at a time with new sectional doors, levellers and inflatable shelters so loading continues.
- Repairing damaged pit edges and fitting new telescopic levellers, shelters and bumpers at a manufacturing site.
Loading bay safety in Scotland
Dock levellers, shelters and restraints are work equipment, so in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire the business running the site must keep them in efficient working order under PUWER 1998, and keep traffic routes safe under the Workplace Regulations 1992. Dock levellers are built to BS EN 1398; powered loading bay doors are covered by the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 and BS EN 12453.
How the work is organised
Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a complete loading bay cost in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire?
Complete loading bays are priced on survey, typically £14,995 to £39,995 ex VAT per bay depending on the leveller, shelter, door and safety systems. We confirm a fixed price in writing after a free survey of your Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire site.
Can a loading bay be added to our Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire unit without a pit?
Often, yes. A loading house built out in front of the door, or an edge-of-dock leveller for light use, avoids cutting a pit in the floor. We check which option suits the building and the traffic on survey.
Do you maintain loading bay equipment across Scotland?
Yes. We service and repair doors, levellers, shelters and controls across Scotland, and can set up planned maintenance covering every item at the bay. Service and repair visits are chargeable.
