Options that matter on site
- Dock levellers. Hydraulic levellers chosen for your vehicle bed heights and handling equipment.
- Traffic lights. Inside and outside lights show when the bay is safe to use.
- One package. Door, leveller, shelter, bumpers and lights specified together.
- Sectional doors. Insulated sectional doors with vision panels and electric operation.
- Phased refurbishment. Bays refurbished one at a time so the site keeps trading.
Jobs we can carry out
- Specifying vehicle restraints, traffic lights and dock lights as part of a review of how trailers leave the dock.
- Designing and fitting a run of complete loading bays on a new-build distribution centre to the main contractor's programme.
- Phasing bay refurbishment at a cold store, one bay per weekend, so temperature-controlled loading carries on.
Loading bay safety in England
Dock levellers, shelters and restraints are work equipment, so in Grays the business running the site must keep them in efficient working order under PUWER 1998, and keep traffic routes safe under the Workplace Regulations 1992. Dock levellers are built to BS EN 1398; powered loading bay doors are covered by the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 and BS EN 12453.
Access, phasing and timing
Most installations in Grays can be phased so part of the site keeps working. We agree access routes, exclusion zones and any temporary security with you before the team arrives, and can work early mornings, evenings or weekends where the business needs it.

Frequently asked questions
Can a loading bay be added to our Grays unit without a pit?
Often, yes. A loading house built out in front of the door, or an edge-of-dock leveller for light use, avoids cutting a pit in the floor. We check which option suits the building and the traffic on survey.
Do you maintain loading bay equipment across Essex?
Yes. We service and repair doors, levellers, shelters and controls across Essex, and can set up planned maintenance covering every item at the bay. Service and repair visits are chargeable.
What safety systems should our Grays loading bays have?
That follows your risk assessment, but busy bays commonly have traffic lights, door-leveller interlocks, vehicle restraints or sensored chocks, dock lights and edge protection. We recommend a package after seeing how your bays are used.
