Options for sectional overhead doors in Thurso

Insulated panels. 40 mm PU-insulated steel panels as standard, with thicker thermal panels where heat loss matters.
Finishes. Choose a colour to match your building and a stucco or ribbed finish that hides minor knocks.
Wicket doors. A pass door built into the panels saves opening the whole door for pedestrians; low-threshold options reduce trips.
Electric drives. Shaft-mounted motors with push-button, remote, loop or radar control, and inverter drives for high-cycle bays.
Track layouts. We pick the track after measuring headroom and obstructions, so the door clears lights, sprinklers and crane rails.

Examples of work we can quote for

Replacing a draughty single-skin roller shutter with an insulated sectional door and a low-threshold wicket door.
Converting a manual chain-operated sectional door to electric operation with a shaft-mounted motor, safety edge and photocells.
Supplying full-vision aluminium sections for a vehicle workshop door so technicians get daylight without opening the door.

Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Thurso?

In Scotland, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.

Access, phasing and timing

Before work starts we send a method statement and risk assessment, confirm who on site will be our contact and agree where materials and access equipment will go. On shared industrial estates that can mean booking yard space with the landlord.

Frequently asked questions

Which safety devices does a powered sectional door in Thurso need?

That comes from the risk assessment for your site, but typically a safety edge or light curtain, spring-break and cable-break protection and limited closing forces tested to BS EN 12453. Busy pedestrian routes may call for more.

Will a sectional door reduce heating costs at our Thurso premises?

An insulated, well-sealed sectional door loses much less heat than a single-skin shutter, and keeping it closed with fast electric operation helps further. Actual savings depend on your building, heating and how often the door is open.

How soon can a sectional door be fitted in Thurso?

Sectional doors are made to measure, so the manufacturer's lead time sets the date. We confirm it with the quote, book installation around your operations and fit most single doors in a day once the opening is ready.
