What to specify

Finishes. Choose a colour to match your building and a stucco or ribbed finish that hides minor knocks.
Electric drives. Shaft-mounted motors with push-button, remote, loop or radar control, and inverter drives for high-cycle bays.
Safety devices. Every powered door is fitted with the safety functions its risk assessment needs and force-tested before handover.
Paperwork. You get the manufacturer's Declaration of Performance plus commissioning and test records for your files.
Vision panels. Add a row of vision panels or full-vision aluminium sections for daylight and a clear view of vehicles outside.

What this work can involve

Renewing torsion springs and lift cables on a busy loading bay door, with higher-cycle springs where the usage justifies them.
Converting a manual chain-operated sectional door to electric operation with a shaft-mounted motor, safety edge and photocells.
Supplying full-vision aluminium sections for a vehicle workshop door so technicians get daylight without opening the door.

Powered door rules that apply in Coatbridge

Coatbridge is in Scotland, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.

Planning the work around your site

Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.
