Options for sectional overhead doors in Preston

Paperwork. Declaration of Performance, user instructions and commissioning records handed over on completion.
Safety devices. Spring-break and cable-break protection, safety edges, photocells or light curtains, set up to BS EN 12453.
Vision panels. Add a row of vision panels or full-vision aluminium sections for daylight and a clear view of vehicles outside.
Track layouts. Standard, low headroom, high lift and vertical lift tracks, chosen after measuring your headroom.
Insulated panels. 40 mm PU-insulated steel panels as standard, with thicker thermal panels where heat loss matters.

Jobs we can carry out

Adding induction loops and an inverter drive so forklifts can open a busy internal sectional door without stopping.
Supplying sectional doors in a RAL colour matched to the existing cladding as part of a unit refurbishment between tenants.
Installing a sectional door on low-headroom tracks in a steel-framed unit where the roof haunch sits close above the opening.

Powered door rules that apply in Preston

Preston is in England, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.

Access, phasing and timing

Downtime matters on a working site, so the programme is set around your shifts. For a single door the opening is usually needed for a day; multi-door jobs are done one bay at a time so deliveries keep moving.

Frequently asked questions

Do you survey sites in Preston before quoting?

Yes. Surveys for new and replacement doors are free. We measure the opening, headroom and obstructions, check the fixings and power supply, and discuss how the door will be used before we price it.

Will a sectional door reduce heating costs at our Preston premises?

An insulated, well-sealed sectional door loses much less heat than a single-skin shutter, and keeping it closed with fast electric operation helps further. Actual savings depend on your building, heating and how often the door is open.

Can you replace a roller shutter with a sectional door at our Preston unit?

Usually, yes, provided there is enough headroom and side room for the tracks. Low-headroom track kits cover many older units. We check this on the survey and include strip-out and making good in the quote.
