Sliding and folding industrial doors in Darlington

The short version

For agricultural and industrial buildings in Darlington, we can replace worn sliding doors, upgrade them with new tracks and leaves, or automate them with the safety devices a powered door needs.

Town: Darlington
Postcode district: DL1
Area: County Durham
Survey: Free for new installations

Options that matter on site

Insulated options. Insulated panel infill and edge seals for heated buildings.
Electric operation. Motor drives with safety edges, photocells and guarding where needed.
Top-hung or bottom-rolling. Weight carried overhead or on a floor rail, chosen to suit the structure.
Folding leaves. Bi-folding leaves stack neatly where side wall space is limited.
No headroom needed. Leaves move sideways, so nothing coils above or runs under the roof.

What this work can involve

Replacing worn timber sliding doors on a storage building with steel-framed bottom-rolling doors and a wicket door.
Supplying insulated sliding leaves with edge seals for a converted building now used as a heated workshop.
Automating a pair of heavy bi-parting sliding doors with a drive motor, safety edges and photocells.

Safety law for industrial doors in England

Industrial doors in Darlington are covered by the same rules as the rest of Great Britain. On handover you should receive user instructions and, for a powered door, the conformity paperwork, because the installer is treated as the manufacturer when they assemble or motorise it. Afterwards, keeping the door in efficient working order is the occupier's job under the Workplace Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998, which in practice means regular servicing and a written log.

Keeping your site running during the work

Before work starts we send a method statement and risk assessment, confirm who on site will be our contact and agree where materials and access equipment will go. On shared industrial estates that can mean booking yard space with the landlord.

Questions from businesses in Darlington

Do you repair sliding and folding doors in Darlington?

Yes. We replace trolleys, wheels, tracks, guides and damaged cladding on most makes of sliding and folding door. Repair visits are chargeable, and we quote before carrying out larger repairs or recommending replacement.

Can our existing sliding doors in Darlington be motorised?

Often, if the leaves and track are in good condition. We assess the doors, fit a drive and the safety devices needed, and take on the conformity responsibilities that come with converting a manual door to power.

Which is better for our Darlington site, top-hung or bottom-rolling?

Top-hung keeps the floor flush but needs a strong structure overhead. Bottom-rolling suits lighter buildings but needs a clean, protected floor rail. We recommend one after checking both on survey.
