Working with sites across the Scottish Borders

Businesses across the Scottish Borders can use one contractor for new industrial doors, replacements and safety upgrades. Every new installation starts with a free survey; repairs and servicing are booked as chargeable visits at a price agreed upfront.

Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Safety law for industrial doors in Scotland

Industrial doors in the Scottish Borders are covered by the same rules as the rest of Great Britain. On handover you should receive user instructions and, for a powered door, the conformity paperwork, because the installer is treated as the manufacturer when they assemble or motorise it. Afterwards, keeping the door in efficient working order is the occupier's job under the Workplace Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998, which in practice means regular servicing and a written log.

Who must keep fire shutters working at a site in the Scottish Borders?

The dutyholder, usually the employer, owner or managing agent, has the duty under the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006. Your fire risk assessment should list each shutter, how it is released and how often it is tested, and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service may ask how the shutters are maintained.

Questions about work in the Scottish Borders

How quickly can you quote for a site in the Scottish Borders?

We aim to book a survey at a time that suits your site and send a written fixed price after it. Simple like-for-like jobs can sometimes be priced from clear photos and measurements first.

Do you cover the Scottish Borders?

Yes. We survey, install, repair and service industrial doors and loading bay equipment for businesses in the Scottish Borders and the rest of Scotland. Tell us the site postcode and what you need and we will arrange a visit.

Do prices in Scotland differ from the guide prices?

Guide prices apply to mainland UK sites. For islands and remote sites, travel and access costs are added and shown in your quote. Your fixed price depends on the door, size, access and working hours, and is confirmed in writing after the survey.

Do you repair doors you didn't install at the Scottish Borders sites?

Yes. We repair and service most makes of industrial door and dock leveller, subject to parts availability, and record each door's details on the first visit.
