In short
If your sliding hangar doors in the Scottish Borders have become heavy, noisy or hard to move, we can renew wheels, guides and drives, or replace the doors with a modern large-span system if refurbishment no longer makes sense.

What to specify
- Designed per opening. No off-the-shelf sizes: every large door is designed for its building and location.
- Drives and controls. Powered leaves with controls to suit the site, plus a way to move the door if power is lost.
- Vertical-lift fabric. Tall openings with little side space can use a fabric door that lifts and folds into a compact stack.
- Wind resistance. Leaves, guides and fixings designed for the wind load on the closed door.
- Safety systems. Large doors move a lot of mass, so warning and detection devices are built in from the start.
Typical scopes of work
- Refurbishing manual large-span sliding doors with new bottom wheels, top guides and an electric drive unit on each leaf.
- Installing heavy-duty sectional doors with wind-resistant panels across the frontage of a bus or coach garage.
- Surveying and specifying a very wide sliding or folding door for a building that houses large plant and machinery.
Who is responsible for door safety at a site in the Scottish Borders?
In Scotland, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.
Keeping your site running during the work
Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Hangar and large-span doors in the Scottish Borders: your questions
Do you work on hangar door projects with our engineer in the Scottish Borders?
Yes. We coordinate loads, fixings, floor rails and steelwork with your structural engineer and main contractor so the door and the building are designed together, and we agree a programme before manufacture.
Which hangar door type would suit our building in the Scottish Borders?
It depends on headroom, side space, structure and how often the door moves. Sliding doors need side space, vertical-lift fabric doors need headroom, and large sectional doors suit big but not extreme openings. We recommend after survey.
Can a large door at our the Scottish Borders site be operated without power?
Most powered large doors include a manual or emergency means of operation for power failures. How it works depends on the door type and size, and we explain it at handover and in the user instructions.
