The short version
Loading bays take a beating from reversing trailers. At sites in the Isle of Wight, we can replace worn dock bumpers, add wheel guides and fit corner bollards to protect doors, levellers, shelters and the building itself.

Options for bollards and door protection in the Isle of Wight
- Frame buffers. Rubber or polymer buffers on corners and frames at vehicle height.
- Suitable fixings. Base-plated or set in foundations, chosen for your slab.
- Steel bollards. Galvanised, painted steel bollards, concrete-filled where needed.
- High visibility. Bright finishes make protection easy for drivers to see and avoid.
- Polymer bollards. Bollards that flex on impact, sparing the floor, the vehicle and themselves.
Examples of work we can quote for
- Setting concrete-filled steel bollards in excavated foundations to protect a yard roller shutter from HGV impact.
- Installing wheel guides and corner bollards on a run of loading bays to protect the shelter frames.
- Replacing bent bollards and checking the slab and anchors around them before fitting new fixings.
Loading bay safety in England
Dock levellers, shelters and restraints are work equipment, so in the Isle of Wight the business running the site must keep them in efficient working order under PUWER 1998, and keep traffic routes safe under the Workplace Regulations 1992. Dock levellers are built to BS EN 1398; powered loading bay doors are covered by the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 and BS EN 12453.
Keeping your site running during the work
Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.
Budgeting for bollards and door protection in the Isle of Wight
| Item | Guide price (ex VAT) |

Your questions about bollards and door protection
Can bollards at our the Isle of Wight site be replaced after a strike?
Yes. Damaged bollards and guards can usually be replaced individually. We check the fixings and the slab around them first, because a bent bollard often loosens its anchors or cracks the concrete at its base.
Do you replace dock bumpers across the South East?
Yes. We replace worn dock bumpers and fit wheel guides and corner bollards at loading bays across the South East, often during a leveller service or bay refurbishment to save a separate visit.
Can you protect our existing doors in the Isle of Wight?
Yes. Guards, buffers and bollards are fitted around existing doors and frames. If a guide or frame is already bent, we recommend repairing it first so the door runs properly behind its new protection.
