Options for cold store and freezer doors in Downpatrick

Hygienic finishes. Smooth, cleanable finishes chosen to meet your hygiene and audit standards.
Electric sliding. Motorised sliding doors with pull cords, radar or loops and safety edges.
Thick insulation. Foam-filled leaves sized to the room temperature, from chillers to freezers.
Impact protection. Protection around the opening helps stop forklifts damaging expensive insulated leaves.
Heated frames. Freezer frames and thresholds are kept just warm enough that ice cannot form on the seals.

Examples of work we can quote for

Fitting a hinged chiller door with a stainless steel finish to a walk-in cold room in a commercial kitchen.
Protecting new cold store door frames with steel buffers and bollards on a busy forklift route.
Adding a heated pressure relief valve to a freezer room where suction makes the door hard to open once it closes.

Powered door rules in Northern Ireland

Downpatrick is in Northern Ireland, where workplace safety is regulated by HSENI under the Health and Safety at Work (Northern Ireland) Order 1978. The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1993 and PUWER (Northern Ireland) 1999 require occupiers to keep powered doors safe and maintained. Under the Windsor Framework, EU machinery rules and CE marking continue to apply to powered doors placed on the market here, with the EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230 applying from 20 January 2027.

Access, phasing and timing

Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Questions from businesses in Downpatrick

How much does a cold store or freezer door cost in Downpatrick?

Our guide price for a sliding cold store or freezer door is £6,495 to £17,995 ex VAT, supplied and fitted. Size, temperature, insulation and electric operation set the final price, confirmed in writing after a free survey in Downpatrick.

Why is our cold room door in Downpatrick hard to open after it closes?

Usually negative pressure: air inside cools and contracts once the door seals. A correctly sized pressure relief valve, heated on freezers, solves this. We check for one on survey and can fit it with a new door.
