Options that matter on site

Impact protection. Protection around the opening helps stop forklifts damaging expensive insulated leaves.
Tight seals. Compressible gaskets pressed against the frame as the door closes.
Pressure relief. We check pressure relief so a tightly sealed room does not suck the door shut.
Heated frames. Freezer frames and thresholds are kept just warm enough that ice cannot form on the seals.
Hygienic finishes. Smooth, cleanable finishes chosen to meet your hygiene and audit standards.

Jobs we can carry out

Adding a heated pressure relief valve to a freezer room where suction makes the door hard to open once it closes.
Protecting new cold store door frames with steel buffers and bollards on a busy forklift route.
Installing a high-speed freezer door in front of an existing sliding cold store door on a busy picking route.

Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Clacton-on-Sea?

In England, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.

Access, phasing and timing

Before work starts we send a method statement and risk assessment, confirm who on site will be our contact and agree where materials and access equipment will go. On shared industrial estates that can mean booking yard space with the landlord.

Questions from businesses in Clacton-on-Sea

Do you supply cold store doors for food businesses in Essex?

Yes. We supply and fit cold store doors with hygienic finishes for food producers, processors, distributors and commercial kitchens across Essex, and we talk through your hygiene, cleaning and audit requirements at the survey before recommending a finish.

Can you replace a freezer door at our Clacton-on-Sea site without losing stock?

We plan the change with you and your refrigeration engineer. Many doors can be swapped in a day, sometimes with stock moved or the plant set back temporarily, so the room returns to temperature quickly.

Why is our cold room door in Clacton-on-Sea hard to open after it closes?

Usually negative pressure: air inside cools and contracts once the door seals. A correctly sized pressure relief valve, heated on freezers, solves this. We check for one on survey and can fit it with a new door.
