Options that matter on site
- Inside release. An emergency release on the inside face so nobody can be shut in.
- Electric sliding. Powered sliding doors that open on demand and close automatically, with full safety devices.
- Tight seals. The leaf pulls in against its gaskets on closing so cold air stays where it belongs.
- Heated frames. Heater cables in freezer door frames stop ice welding the seals shut.
- Thick insulation. Insulation thickness is chosen for your operating temperature, with heavier leaves for freezers.
Typical scopes of work
- Protecting new cold store door frames with steel buffers and bollards on a busy forklift route.
- Replacing an iced-up sliding freezer door with a new insulated door, heated frame and heated threshold.
- Fitting a hinged chiller door with a stainless steel finish to a walk-in cold room in a commercial kitchen.
Powered door rules that apply in Wickford
Wickford is in England, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.
How the work is organised
Before work starts we send a method statement and risk assessment, confirm who on site will be our contact and agree where materials and access equipment will go. On shared industrial estates that can mean booking yard space with the landlord.

Your questions about cold store and freezer doors
Can you replace a freezer door at our Wickford site without losing stock?
We plan the change with you and your refrigeration engineer. Many doors can be swapped in a day, sometimes with stock moved or the plant set back temporarily, so the room returns to temperature quickly.
What safety release do cold store doors in Wickford need?
Every cold store door should open from inside without a key or tool, even when locked from outside. We fit a clearly marked inside release and can add an alarm button connected to a monitored panel.
Do you repair cold store doors in Wickford?
Yes. We replace gaskets, frame heaters, rollers, tracks, releases and drives on most makes. Repair visits are chargeable, and we quote before larger repairs or recommend replacement when the leaf itself has failed.
