Cold store and freezer doors in Forres

In short

Temperature-controlled rooms in Forres (IV36) need doors that seal tightly, open safely from inside and stand up to forklift traffic. We specify, fit and commission them with full handover records.

Town: Forres
Postcode district: IV36
Area: Highlands and Islands
Survey: By arrangement

What to specify

Heated frames. Freezer frames and thresholds are kept just warm enough that ice cannot form on the seals.
Impact protection. Protection around the opening helps stop forklifts damaging expensive insulated leaves.
Tight seals. The leaf pulls in against its gaskets on closing so cold air stays where it belongs.
Thick insulation. Insulation thickness is chosen for your operating temperature, with heavier leaves for freezers.
Inside release. Every door can be opened from inside without a key, even if locked from outside.

Jobs we can carry out

Adding a heated pressure relief valve to a freezer room where suction makes the door hard to open once it closes.
Fitting freezer-grade PVC strip curtains behind cold store doors that stand open during loading.
Protecting new cold store door frames with steel buffers and bollards on a busy forklift route.

Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Forres?

In Scotland, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.

Planning the work around your site

Sites in and around Forres vary from tight trade counters to large distribution yards. The survey records access for our vehicle and platform, overhead obstructions and floor condition so the installation day runs without surprises.
