Options that matter on site

Tight seals. Compressible gaskets pressed against the frame as the door closes.
Impact protection. Kick plates, buffers and bollards to keep trucks off leaves and frames.
Pressure relief. We check pressure relief so a tightly sealed room does not suck the door shut.
Thick insulation. Foam-filled leaves sized to the room temperature, from chillers to freezers.
Electric sliding. Powered sliding doors that open on demand and close automatically, with full safety devices.

Jobs we can carry out

Adding a heated pressure relief valve to a freezer room where suction makes the door hard to open once it closes.
Protecting new cold store door frames with steel buffers and bollards on a busy forklift route.
Installing a high-speed freezer door in front of an existing sliding cold store door on a busy picking route.

Powered door rules that apply in Nairn

Nairn is in Scotland, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.

Keeping your site running during the work

Before work starts we send a method statement and risk assessment, confirm who on site will be our contact and agree where materials and access equipment will go. On shared industrial estates that can mean booking yard space with the landlord.

Cold store and freezer doors in Nairn: your questions

Do you repair cold store doors in Nairn?

Yes. We replace gaskets, frame heaters, rollers, tracks, releases and drives on most makes. Repair visits are chargeable, and we quote before larger repairs or recommend replacement when the leaf itself has failed.

Why is our cold room door in Nairn hard to open after it closes?

Usually negative pressure: air inside cools and contracts once the door seals. A correctly sized pressure relief valve, heated on freezers, solves this. We check for one on survey and can fit it with a new door.

What safety release do cold store doors in Nairn need?

Every cold store door should open from inside without a key or tool, even when locked from outside. We fit a clearly marked inside release and can add an alarm button connected to a monitored panel.
