Options for cold store and freezer doors in Whitstable
- Electric sliding. Powered sliding doors that open on demand and close automatically, with full safety devices.
- Heated frames. Freezer frames and thresholds are kept just warm enough that ice cannot form on the seals.
- Pressure relief. Relief valves to balance pressure after the door closes or during defrost.
- Thick insulation. Insulation thickness is chosen for your operating temperature, with heavier leaves for freezers.
- Impact protection. Kick plates, buffers and bollards to keep trucks off leaves and frames.
Typical scopes of work
- Replacing an iced-up sliding freezer door with a new insulated door, heated frame and heated threshold.
- Renewing worn gaskets and the frame heater on a chiller door that no longer seals properly.
- Installing a high-speed freezer door in front of an existing sliding cold store door on a busy picking route.
Safety law for industrial doors in England
Industrial doors in Whitstable are covered by the same rules as the rest of Great Britain. On handover you should receive user instructions and, for a powered door, the conformity paperwork, because the installer is treated as the manufacturer when they assemble or motorise it. Afterwards, keeping the door in efficient working order is the occupier's job under the Workplace Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998, which in practice means regular servicing and a written log.
Keeping your site running during the work
Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Frequently asked questions
Do you supply cold store doors for food businesses in Kent?
Yes. We supply and fit cold store doors with hygienic finishes for food producers, processors, distributors and commercial kitchens across Kent, and we talk through your hygiene, cleaning and audit requirements at the survey before recommending a finish.
How much does a cold store or freezer door cost in Whitstable?
Our guide price for a sliding cold store or freezer door is £6,495 to £17,995 ex VAT, supplied and fitted. Size, temperature, insulation and electric operation set the final price, confirmed in writing after a free survey in Whitstable.
Why is our cold room door in Whitstable hard to open after it closes?
Usually negative pressure: air inside cools and contracts once the door seals. A correctly sized pressure relief valve, heated on freezers, solves this. We check for one on survey and can fit it with a new door.
