Options that matter on site
- Manual override. Chain or crank override so doors open during power cuts.
- Traffic lights. Red and green lights and warning beacons for drivers.
- Interlocks. Airlocks, door-to-leveller and fire alarm interfaces.
- Manual-to-electric. Hand-operated doors converted to power, with the paperwork a powered door needs.
- Activation options. Buttons, key switches, remotes, pull cords, loops, radar and access control.
Examples of work we can quote for
- Fitting induction loops and an inverter control panel so forklifts can open a busy internal door without stopping.
- Converting hand-chained sectional doors to electric operation with push-button controls, safety edges and photocells.
- Linking loading bay doors to dock leveller controls so levellers deploy only when the doors are fully open.
Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Ayrshire?
In Scotland, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.
How the work is organised
Most installations in Ayrshire can be phased so part of the site keeps working. We agree access routes, exclusion zones and any temporary security with you before the team arrives, and can work early mornings, evenings or weekends where the business needs it.

Frequently asked questions
Can our door in Ayrshire be automated?
If the door is in good mechanical order and a suitable motor is available, usually yes. We check balance, springs, cables, guides and the curtain or panels on survey, and recommend repair or replacement first if needed.
Can you add interlocks or traffic lights to doors around Scotland?
Yes. We fit airlock interlocks, door-to-leveller interlocks, traffic lights and warning beacons to new and existing doors across Scotland, subject to compatibility with the control panels already fitted, and replace panels where they cannot accept the extra inputs.
How much does it cost to make a door electric in Ayrshire?
Our guide price for a manual-to-electric conversion is £1,195 to £3,195 ex VAT, including motor, control panel, basic controls and commissioning. Extra controls and safety devices are priced separately, and your fixed price in Ayrshire follows a free survey.
