What's included
- Alarm interface. Release signal and fail-safe operation checked, with your alarm contractor where needed.

- Remedials. If a shutter fails, we explain why and quote the fix before carrying out paid work.
- Scheduling. Service intervals agreed with you, from annual to six-monthly on busy sites.
- Most makes. Shutters from most manufacturers serviced, whether or not we installed them.
Examples of work we can quote for
- Servicing fire shutters on conveyor openings, including checks that the conveyor clears the closing line before the shutter descends.
- Carrying out a first service on fire shutters in a newly occupied unit, recording each shutter's make, label and condition.
- Replacing a failed battery back-up unit so a fire shutter closes under control when mains power is lost.
Fire shutter law in Scotland
A fire shutter only does its job if it closes when needed. Under the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006, the dutyholder must keep fire safety equipment maintained in efficient working order, and keeping test records is the usual way to show it. Shutters must also stay as the manufacturer tested and certified them, so repairs should use the right parts. In Dumfries, the enforcing authority is the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
How the work is organised
On a first visit we record each door's make, size, control type and condition. That record makes later repairs quicker to price and helps you plan replacements before a door fails.

Yes. We service most makes across Dumfries and Galloway. On the first visit we record each shutter's details and condition so future services and any repairs are straightforward.

Follow the manufacturer and your fire risk assessment. A full service with closure test at least annually is common practice, with six-monthly visits on busy sites or shutters used daily.
