What our engineers check and fix
- Scheduling. Six-monthly or annual visits set to suit your risk assessment.
- Closure test. Each shutter released as the alarm would and its descent timed and checked.
- Drive and back-up. Motors, brakes, limit settings and battery units checked for reliable operation.
- Alarm interface. Release signal and fail-safe operation checked, with your alarm contractor where needed.
- Remedials. Faults explained on the day and quoted before any chargeable repair.
What this work can involve
- Producing a fire shutter schedule and condition report ahead of a fire risk assessment review.
- Testing service-yard fire shutters out of hours so the closure test does not block a busy delivery route.
- Carrying out a first service on fire shutters in a newly occupied unit, recording each shutter's make, label and condition.
Fire safety duties for shutters in Hampton
In England, fire shutters are part of the fire precautions the responsible person must keep maintained under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005: in efficient working order and in good repair. Testing at suitable intervals and keeping the results is expected good practice and supports your fire risk assessment. Enforcement in Hampton is by the London Fire Commissioner (London Fire Brigade).
Keeping your site running during the work
Before work starts we send a method statement and risk assessment, confirm who on site will be our contact and agree where materials and access equipment will go. On shared industrial estates that can mean booking yard space with the landlord.
