What we fit in Gravesend
- Warning devices. Sounders and beacons to warn people before and during descent.
- Certified install. We follow the certified installation details exactly, because the rating depends on them.
- Battery back-up. Batteries keep the closing sequence under control even if mains power is lost.
- Fail-safe closing. If the alarm sounds or the power goes, the shutter drops at a governed speed and closes the opening.
- Alarm interface. Release linked to the fire alarm and designed to BS 7273-4.
What this work can involve
- Building up a blockwork wall to the tested construction before fitting a new compartment fire shutter.
- Fitting battery back-up, a beacon and a sounder to a new fire shutter on a service corridor.
- Replacing an obsolete kitchen servery fire shutter with a new shutter released by the fire alarm panel.
Who must keep fire shutters working at a site in Gravesend?
The responsible person, usually the employer, owner or managing agent, has the duty under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Your fire risk assessment should list each shutter, how it is released and how often it is tested, and the local fire and rescue authority may ask how the shutters are maintained.
Keeping your site running during the work
Most installations in Gravesend can be phased so part of the site keeps working. We agree access routes, exclusion zones and any temporary security with you before the team arrives, and can work early mornings, evenings or weekends where the business needs it.
