What to specify
- Daily-use models. Motorised fire shutters that also work as everyday doors.
- Certified install. We follow the certified installation details exactly, because the rating depends on them.
- Records. You receive records of the installation, commissioning and first drop test for your files.
- Battery back-up. Batteries keep the closing sequence under control even if mains power is lost.
- Alarm interface. We agree the cause-and-effect with your alarm contractor and prove the release at commissioning.
Examples of work we can quote for
- Replacing an obsolete kitchen servery fire shutter with a new shutter released by the fire alarm panel.
- Supplying a fire shutter to a fire engineer's specification on a new-build unit, timed to the main contractor's programme.
- Installing a motorised fire shutter that also serves as the daily goods door between two warehouse compartments.
Who must keep fire shutters working at a site in Lancashire?
The responsible person, usually the employer, owner or managing agent, has the duty under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Your fire risk assessment should list each shutter, how it is released and how often it is tested, and the local fire and rescue authority may ask how the shutters are maintained.
Planning the work around your site
Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.
