What to specify
- Fail-safe closing. If the alarm sounds or the power goes, the shutter drops at a governed speed and closes the opening.
- Certified install. We follow the certified installation details exactly, because the rating depends on them.
- Alarm interface. Release linked to the fire alarm and designed to BS 7273-4.
- Tested products. Every shutter comes with its maker's furnace test or assessment evidence and performance declaration.
- Records. You receive records of the installation, commissioning and first drop test for your files.
Jobs we can carry out
- Coordinating commissioning with the fire alarm contractor so the shutter release is proven during the same visit.
- Fitting a 120-minute fire shutter to a conveyor opening between production and storage compartments, released by the fire alarm.
- Building up a blockwork wall to the tested construction before fitting a new compartment fire shutter.

In Wales, fire shutters are part of the fire precautions the responsible person must keep maintained under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, as it applies in Wales: in efficient working order and in good repair. Testing at suitable intervals and keeping the results is expected good practice and supports your fire risk assessment. Enforcement in Ystradgynlais is by Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
Planning the work around your site
Downtime matters on a working site, so the programme is set around your shifts. For a single door the opening is usually needed for a day; multi-door jobs are done one bay at a time so deliveries keep moving.

Questions from businesses in Ystradgynlais
Can you link a fire shutter to our existing alarm in Ystradgynlais?
Usually, yes. We work with your fire alarm contractor to agree the cause-and-effect and the interface, designed to BS 7273-4, and prove the shutter closes on the alarm signal at commissioning.

No. It must be fitted to a wall of the type covered by the manufacturer's test evidence, with fire-stopping as detailed. If your wall differs, we explain what building work is needed before the shutter is ordered.
