What to specify
- Inverter drives. A frequency inverter accelerates and brakes the curtain smoothly, cutting wear on every cycle.
- Fabric doors. Lightweight roll-up curtains that suit most internal doorways and many protected external ones.
- Vision panels. Clear vision strips or windows so drivers can see through the closed door.
- Smart activation. The door opens only for the traffic you choose, from forklifts on loops to pedestrians on buttons.
- Breakaway bottom bars. If a truck catches the door, the bottom bar breaks away rather than bending the frame.
Typical scopes of work
- Interlocking two high-speed doors as an airlock between a clean production area and the general warehouse.
- Fitting a self-repairing fabric door between production and dispatch where a conventional shutter stands open all shift.
- Installing an insulated spiral door as the main external opening on a temperature-controlled distribution unit.
Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Redruth?
In England, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.
Planning the work around your site
If your premises are leased, check whether the landlord needs to approve the work. We can provide drawings and product data for the landlord or managing agent before the order is placed.

Your questions about high-speed doors
Do you repair high-speed doors across Cornwall?
Yes. We repair fabric and spiral high-speed doors across Cornwall, including curtains, bottom bars, drives, inverters and safety devices, subject to parts availability. Repair visits are chargeable and quoted up front.
How long does it take to install a high-speed door in Redruth?
A typical fabric door is fitted and commissioned in a day once it arrives. Spiral doors, interlocks and floor loops add time. The manufacturer's lead time is confirmed with your quote, and we fit around your operations.
Do high-speed doors in Redruth need more servicing than standard doors?
Usually, yes, because they cycle so often. We base the service interval on the cycle counter and the manufacturer's guidance rather than a fixed annual visit, and can set up a planned maintenance schedule.
