High-speed doors in Huddersfield

At a glance

High-speed fabric and spiral doors for factories, warehouses and food sites in Huddersfield. We survey the opening, look at your traffic and set up activation and safety so the door opens when needed and closes straight after.

Town: Huddersfield
Postcode district: HD1
Area: West Yorkshire
Survey: Free for new installations

What to specify

Smart activation. Radar, loops, pull cords or interlocks set to the traffic using the door.
Self-repairing curtains. After a knock, many curtains reset themselves automatically instead of waiting for an engineer.
Inverter drives. A frequency inverter accelerates and brakes the curtain smoothly, cutting wear on every cycle.
Fabric doors. Lightweight roll-up curtains that suit most internal doorways and many protected external ones.
Vision panels. Clear vision strips or windows so drivers can see through the closed door.

What this work can involve

Installing an insulated spiral door as the main external opening on a temperature-controlled distribution unit.
Adding a high-speed fabric door inside an existing sectional door so the outer door can stay open during the shift.
Setting up radar with cross-traffic suppression so a door on a busy aisle opens only for approaching traffic.

Safety law for industrial doors in England

Industrial doors in Huddersfield are covered by the same rules as the rest of Great Britain. On handover you should receive user instructions and, for a powered door, the conformity paperwork, because the installer is treated as the manufacturer when they assemble or motorise it. Afterwards, keeping the door in efficient working order is the occupier's job under the Workplace Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998, which in practice means regular servicing and a written log.

How the work is organised

Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Your questions about high-speed doors

Which type of high-speed door suits our Huddersfield site?

Fabric doors suit most internal openings and many sheltered external ones. Spiral doors suit exposed external openings and sites that need insulation and security from the same door. We recommend a type after looking at traffic, exposure and temperature on the survey.

How much does a high-speed door cost in Huddersfield?

Our guide price is £7,495 to £15,995 ex VAT for a high-speed fabric door and £17,995 to £34,995 for a spiral (rigid slat) door, supplied and fitted. We survey your Huddersfield opening free of charge and then confirm a fixed price in writing.

What safety features will a high-speed door at our Huddersfield premises have?

Typically a full-height light curtain or photocells, limited closing forces, and on many fabric models a soft or breakaway bottom edge. The exact package comes from the risk assessment for your traffic and is tested before handover.
