Town: Smethwick
Postcode district: B66
Area: West Midlands
Survey: Free for new installations

What to specify

Fixed price. A written fixed price confirmed after the survey, before any work begins.
Conformity paperwork. Handover includes the product and machinery conformity documents plus commissioning records.
Free survey. Opening, headroom, obstructions, fixings and power all measured before we quote.
Drives and controls. Direct, centre or chain drive motors with buttons, remotes, loops, radar or interlocks.
All door types. One installer for every common industrial door, from simple shutters to fire-rated and high-speed doors.

Typical scopes of work

Replacing corroded roller shutters on a vehicle workshop with insulated roller doors and new key-switch controls.
Fitting sectional doors, a high-speed internal door and steel personnel doors to a new-build warehouse as one coordinated package.
Adding a high-speed fabric door inside an existing shutter so the main door can stay open through the working day.

Safety law for industrial doors in England

Industrial doors in Smethwick are covered by the same rules as the rest of Great Britain. On handover you should receive user instructions and, for a powered door, the conformity paperwork, because the installer is treated as the manufacturer when they assemble or motorise it. Afterwards, keeping the door in efficient working order is the occupier's job under the Workplace Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998, which in practice means regular servicing and a written log.

Access, phasing and timing

If your premises are leased, check whether the landlord needs to approve the work. We can provide drawings and product data for the landlord or managing agent before the order is placed.

Questions from businesses in Smethwick

How soon could a new door be installed at our Smethwick premises?

It depends mainly on the manufacturer's lead time for a made-to-measure door, which we confirm in the quote. Installation is then booked around your operations, and most single doors are fitted and commissioned in a day.

Who signs off a new powered door at our Smethwick site?

When we assemble or motorise a door, we take on the manufacturer's role under machinery law: risk assessment, testing, conformity marking and the Declaration of Conformity. You then keep the door maintained as the employer or occupier.

Which door types do you install in Smethwick?

Roller shutters, insulated roller doors, sectional overhead doors, high-speed doors, fire shutters, sliding and folding doors, hangar doors, cold store doors, steel personnel doors, traffic doors and strip curtains, plus loading bay equipment such as levellers and shelters.
