Manual override. If the power fails, the shutter can still be wound open by hand.
Safety devices. Motorised shutters get the safety functions their risk assessment needs before handover.
Manual or electric. Push-up, chain hoist or motorised operation depending on how often the door opens.
Mounting options. Fixed inside, in the reveal or face-fixed outside with a protective hood.
Colour finishes. Plain galvanised or powder-coated to a RAL colour.

What this work can involve

Supplying a security-rated roller shutter, installed to the certified specification, to meet an insurer's requirement for a high-value stockroom.
Replacing a vehicle-damaged shutter in a trade yard with a heavier-gauge curtain and guide-rail protection.
Face-fixing a roller shutter with a steel hood where internal racking leaves no room behind the opening.

Powered door rules that apply in Redruth

Redruth is in England, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.

Access, phasing and timing

Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Frequently asked questions

Do you remove old shutters at sites in Redruth?

Yes. Strip-out and disposal of the old shutter is shown as a separate line in the quote, along with any repairs to the opening. The old door normally comes out as part of the same visit that fits the new one.

Can you supply security-rated shutters in Redruth?

Yes. Where your insurer asks for a rating such as LPS 1175, we supply a shutter whose manufacturer holds that certification and install it to the certified specification. Check the exact rating your insurer wants before ordering.

Can you convert our manual shutter in Redruth to electric?

Often, yes, if the barrel, curtain and guides are in good condition. Our guide price for a conversion is £1,195 to £3,195 ex VAT. We become responsible for the conformity paperwork on the converted door and fit the safety devices it needs.
