What we fit in Newtownards

Compact coil. No tracks under the roof: the door rolls up into a neat coil above the lintel.
Wind locks. Lath end locks for exposed or wide doors to stop the curtain blowing out.
Safety devices. Every powered door gets the safety functions its risk assessment calls for and is tested before handover.
Foam-filled laths. Each lath has two metal skins with insulating foam between them, so the curtain holds heat far better.
Electric drive. Motor inside the barrel or on its end, with a chain or handle so the door still opens without power.

Typical scopes of work

Converting a hand-chained insulated roller door to electric operation with a safety edge and photocells.
Installing an insulated roller door with induction loop activation on a busy internal forklift route.
Replacing a corroded single-skin shutter on a heated workshop with an insulated roller door and radio remote control.

Powered door rules in Northern Ireland

Newtownards is in Northern Ireland, where workplace safety is regulated by HSENI under the Health and Safety at Work (Northern Ireland) Order 1978. The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1993 and PUWER (Northern Ireland) 1999 require occupiers to keep powered doors safe and maintained. Under the Windsor Framework, EU machinery rules and CE marking continue to apply to powered doors placed on the market here, with the EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230 applying from 20 January 2027.

Planning the work around your site

For busy sites in County Down the work can be split across visits — preparation and framing first, door installation and commissioning second — so the opening is only out of action for the shortest time.

Your questions about insulated roller shutter doors

Will an insulated roller door cut heating bills at our Newtownards premises?

It loses much less heat than a single-skin shutter, especially with good seals and quick electric operation. How much you save depends on your building, heating system and how long the door stays open.

Does a powered insulated roller door in Newtownards need safety devices?

If the door closes automatically or can trap someone, yes. The risk assessment decides what is needed, typically a safety edge, photocells and closing forces tested to BS EN 12453, plus anti-fall protection on heavier curtains.

How much does an insulated roller shutter door cost in Newtownards?

Our guide price for an electric insulated roller door up to about 4 × 4 m is £3,195 to £7,495 ex VAT, supplied and fitted. We survey your Newtownards opening free of charge and then put a fixed price in writing.
