Options for insulated roller shutter doors in County Londonderry
- Foam-filled laths. Each lath has two metal skins with insulating foam between them, so the curtain holds heat far better.
- Safety devices. Every powered door gets the safety functions its risk assessment calls for and is tested before handover.
- Electric drive. Motor inside the barrel or on its end, with a chain or handle so the door still opens without power.
- Wind locks. On exposed elevations, wind locks hook the laths into the guides so gusts cannot push the curtain out.
- Colour choice. Choose a colour to suit your building, with a matching hood over the coil if wanted.
What this work can involve
- Fitting a compact insulated service door to a plant room to reduce the noise reaching neighbouring offices.
- Fitting an insulated roller door to a trade counter unit where sprinkler mains leave no room for sectional door tracks.
- Renewing worn guide brushes, the head seal and the bottom-rail seal on an insulated roller door that lets in draughts.
Powered door rules in Northern Ireland
County Londonderry is in Northern Ireland, where workplace safety is regulated by HSENI under the Health and Safety at Work (Northern Ireland) Order 1978. The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1993 and PUWER (Northern Ireland) 1999 require occupiers to keep powered doors safe and maintained. Under the Windsor Framework, EU machinery rules and CE marking continue to apply to powered doors placed on the market here, with the EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230 applying from 20 January 2027.
Keeping your site running during the work
Electrical work is the part that most often delays a job. If a new or converted door needs a supply, we confirm the motor's requirement at quote stage so your electrician can provide an isolator in the right place before installation day.
