Town: Rochdale
Postcode district: OL16
Area: Greater Manchester
Survey: Free for new installations

What to specify

Safety devices. Safety edges, photocells and anti-fall devices fitted as the risk assessment requires.
Wind locks. On exposed elevations, wind locks hook the laths into the guides so gusts cannot push the curtain out.
Electric drive. Motor inside the barrel or on its end, with a chain or handle so the door still opens without power.
Compact coil. The curtain coils above the opening, leaving ceilings free for lights and sprinklers.
Weather seals. Seals along the guides, head and bottom rail stop wind-driven rain and cold air getting in.

What this work can involve

Fitting an insulated roller door to a trade counter unit where sprinkler mains leave no room for sectional door tracks.
Installing an insulated roller door with induction loop activation on a busy internal forklift route.
Replacing a corroded single-skin shutter on a heated workshop with an insulated roller door and radio remote control.

Powered door rules that apply in Rochdale

Rochdale is in England, where powered industrial doors fall under Great Britain's health and safety law. Whoever makes a door powered — including converting a manual door — usually takes on the manufacturer's duties under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008: risk assessment, technical file, conformity marking and a Declaration of Conformity. Once it is in use, the employer or occupier must keep it safe under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998.

Keeping your site running during the work

Electrical work is the part that most often delays a job. If a new or converted door needs a supply, we confirm the motor's requirement at quote stage so your electrician can provide an isolator in the right place before installation day.

Insulated roller shutter doors in Rochdale: your questions

Does a powered insulated roller door in Rochdale need safety devices?

If the door closes automatically or can trap someone, yes. The risk assessment decides what is needed, typically a safety edge, photocells and closing forces tested to BS EN 12453, plus anti-fall protection on heavier curtains.

How much does an insulated roller shutter door cost in Rochdale?

Our guide price for an electric insulated roller door up to about 4 × 4 m is £3,195 to £7,495 ex VAT, supplied and fitted. We survey your Rochdale opening free of charge and then put a fixed price in writing.

Will an insulated roller door cut heating bills at our Rochdale premises?

It loses much less heat than a single-skin shutter, especially with good seals and quick electric operation. How much you save depends on your building, heating system and how long the door stays open.
