At a glance
Older door control panels may not accept modern monitored safety devices. At premises in Hove, we can replace them where needed, adding inverter control and better fault diagnostics in the same visit.

What we fit in Hove
- Warning devices. Beacons, sounders and traffic lights to warn people of a moving door.
- Force testing. Closing forces measured against BS EN 12453 limits and recorded.
- Fall protection. If a spring, cable or drive fails, the door is caught before it falls.
- Panel upgrades. Where the old panel cannot monitor devices, we replace it with one that can.
- Photocells. If something breaks the beam, the door will not close.
Typical scopes of work
- Adding anti-fall devices to heavy roller shutters identified in a workplace risk assessment review.
- Replacing a damaged or bypassed safety edge on a yard roller shutter and re-testing its closing forces.
- Carrying out safety upgrades on the powered doors of a newly leased unit before a tenant moves in.
Safety law for industrial doors in England
Industrial doors in Hove are covered by the same rules as the rest of Great Britain. On handover you should receive user instructions and, for a powered door, the conformity paperwork, because the installer is treated as the manufacturer when they assemble or motorise it. Afterwards, keeping the door in efficient working order is the occupier's job under the Workplace Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998, which in practice means regular servicing and a written log.
How the work is organised
Downtime matters on a working site, so the programme is set around your shifts. For a single door the opening is usually needed for a day; multi-door jobs are done one bay at a time so deliveries keep moving.

Frequently asked questions
Our door at our Hove site has a bypassed safety edge. What should we do?
Stop using the door under power until the safety device is working, or use it on hold-to-run only if the risk assessment allows. We can replace the edge or fit alternative detection and re-test the door.
How long does a safety upgrade take in Hove?
Most upgrades take a few hours per door, including re-testing. If a new control panel is needed, it may take longer. We plan work to keep doors out of use for as short a time as possible.
Can you force-test our doors in Hove?
Yes. We measure closing forces with a calibrated tester at the points set out in BS EN 12453, record the results and recommend any adjustments or devices needed. Force testing can be part of a service visit.
