What to specify

Electric drives. Shaft-mounted motors with push-button, remote, loop or radar control, and inverter drives for high-cycle bays.
Safety devices. Every powered door is fitted with the safety functions its risk assessment needs and force-tested before handover.
Finishes. RAL colours to match cladding, with stucco or woodgrain embossing on the outer skin.
Vision panels. Add a row of vision panels or full-vision aluminium sections for daylight and a clear view of vehicles outside.
Paperwork. You get the manufacturer's Declaration of Performance plus commissioning and test records for your files.

What this work can involve

Adding induction loops and an inverter drive so forklifts can open a busy internal sectional door without stopping.
Replacing a draughty single-skin roller shutter with an insulated sectional door and a low-threshold wicket door.
Installing a sectional door on low-headroom tracks in a steel-framed unit where the roof haunch sits close above the opening.

Safety law for industrial doors in England

Industrial doors in Grimsby are covered by the same rules as the rest of Great Britain. On handover you should receive user instructions and, for a powered door, the conformity paperwork, because the installer is treated as the manufacturer when they assemble or motorise it. Afterwards, keeping the door in efficient working order is the occupier's job under the Workplace Regulations 1992 and PUWER 1998, which in practice means regular servicing and a written log.

Keeping your site running during the work

Downtime matters on a working site, so the programme is set around your shifts. For a single door the opening is usually needed for a day; multi-door jobs are done one bay at a time so deliveries keep moving.

Sectional overhead doors in Grimsby: your questions

Can you replace a roller shutter with a sectional door at our Grimsby unit?

Usually, yes, provided there is enough headroom and side room for the tracks. Low-headroom track kits cover many older units. We check this on the survey and include strip-out and making good in the quote.

How much is a sectional overhead door in Grimsby?

Our guide price for an electric, 40 mm insulated sectional door up to about 4 × 4.5 m is £3,495 to £8,495 ex VAT, supplied and fitted. The fixed price for your opening in Grimsby is confirmed in writing after a free survey.

Will a sectional door reduce heating costs at our Grimsby premises?

An insulated, well-sealed sectional door loses much less heat than a single-skin shutter, and keeping it closed with fast electric operation helps further. Actual savings depend on your building, heating and how often the door is open.
