What we fit in Cambridge
- Wide spans. Very wide openings are handled by adding leaves, so width is rarely a limit.
- No headroom needed. With side-opening leaves, cranes, lights and services overhead stay clear.
- Top-hung or bottom-rolling. We hang the door from above or run it on a floor rail depending on what the building can support.
- Robust build. Steel frames carry cladding to suit the building, from profiled steel to timber boarding.
- Folding leaves. Bi-folding leaves stack neatly where side wall space is limited.
Examples of work we can quote for
- Installing telescopic sliding doors where the wall space to one side is limited by an adjoining structure.
- Adding a steel support beam and top-hung track so a sliding door leaves the floor flush for forklifts.
- Automating a pair of heavy bi-parting sliding doors with a drive motor, safety edges and photocells.
Who is responsible for door safety at a site in Cambridge?
In England, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.
Keeping your site running during the work
For busy sites in Cambridgeshire the work can be split across visits — preparation and framing first, door installation and commissioning second — so the opening is only out of action for the shortest time.

Frequently asked questions
Do you fit sliding doors on farm buildings around Cambridgeshire?
Yes. We supply and fit steel sliding doors on agricultural buildings across Cambridgeshire, including timber-clad leaves, bottom-rolling gear for lightweight portal frames and wicket doors so staff and livestock handlers can get in without opening the main leaves.
Which is better for our Cambridge site, top-hung or bottom-rolling?
Top-hung keeps the floor flush but needs a strong structure overhead. Bottom-rolling suits lighter buildings but needs a clean, protected floor rail. We recommend one after checking both on survey.
Do you repair sliding and folding doors in Cambridge?
Yes. We replace trolleys, wheels, tracks, guides and damaged cladding on most makes of sliding and folding door. Repair visits are chargeable, and we quote before carrying out larger repairs or recommending replacement.
