Options for sliding and folding industrial doors in East Sussex
- Wide spans. Openings of almost any width split into as many leaves as needed.
- Robust build. Steel-framed leaves with steel, panel or timber cladding.
- Insulated options. Insulated panel infill and edge seals for heated buildings.
- No headroom needed. With side-opening leaves, cranes, lights and services overhead stay clear.
- Top-hung or bottom-rolling. Weight carried overhead or on a floor rail, chosen to suit the structure.
What this work can involve
- Installing telescopic sliding doors where the wall space to one side is limited by an adjoining structure.
- Supplying insulated sliding leaves with edge seals for a converted building now used as a heated workshop.
- Fitting bi-folding doors to a maintenance workshop where overhead gantry cranes rule out a roller shutter or sectional door.
Who is responsible for door safety at a site in East Sussex?
In England, two sets of duties meet at a powered door. The installer who supplies or motorises it must hand over a door that meets the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, tested against BS EN 12453 and documented. The business in control of the premises must then maintain it: regulation 5 of the Workplace Regulations 1992 covers maintenance, and regulation 18 requires upward-opening doors to have a device that stops them falling back and powered doors to have features that prevent trapping.
Access, phasing and timing
Where a door is being replaced, the opening has to be made secure at the end of each day. We plan strip-out, any new framing and the new door so the gap is never left open overnight unless you have agreed temporary measures.

Sliding and folding industrial doors in East Sussex: your questions
Which is better for our East Sussex site, top-hung or bottom-rolling?
Top-hung keeps the floor flush but needs a strong structure overhead. Bottom-rolling suits lighter buildings but needs a clean, protected floor rail. We recommend one after checking both on survey.
Do you fit sliding doors on farm buildings around the South East?
Yes. We supply and fit steel sliding doors on agricultural buildings across the South East, including timber-clad leaves, bottom-rolling gear for lightweight portal frames and wicket doors so staff and livestock handlers can get in without opening the main leaves.
Can our existing sliding doors in East Sussex be motorised?
Often, if the leaves and track are in good condition. We assess the doors, fit a drive and the safety devices needed, and take on the conformity responsibilities that come with converting a manual door to power.
